It’s Power Raking Season!

Dethatching is an important step to maintaining a healthy lawn all season. Thatch is organic matter that has yet to decompose, and can include leaves, dead grass, rhizomes, stolons, and stem roots. It is recommended to keep a moderate amount of thatch in a yard to help maintain moisture, temperature, and soil pH, as well as help block burrowing pests such as voles. Any thatch at a depth of 3/4” or greater is in need of removal, however.

WARNING
New lawns from seed or sod should not be dethatched until they develop proper root systems
